Body and Paint Warranty Repairs to be Performed by a ProFirst Certified Repair Facility

Effective April 1, 2022, Honda Canada Inc., (“Honda”) announced that all Honda and Acura warrantable body and paint repairs are required to be performed at a ProFirst Certified Collision Repair Facility.

The goal of this policy update is to ensure that body and paint repairs are performed in accordance with Honda specified repair procedures and to minimize the risks associated with incorrect repairs. This policy also supports ‌collision repair facilities that have invested in tools, equipment, and training to become ProFirst Certified.

Honda/Acura Dealers will be able to utilize the online shop locators https://honda.ca/collision-centre and https://acura.ca/collision-centre along with the Certified Collision Care online shop locator https://autobodylocator.ca/canada to locate a ProFirst Certified Repair Facility in their local area.

What does this mean for you? A potential increase in the volume of Honda/Acura body and paint warranty repairs directed to dedicated ProFirst Certified facilities. If your facility is ProFirst Certified, we encourage you to reach out to your local Honda/Acura dealership to introduce your ProFirst Certified Repair Facility. This warranty policy update represents a great opportunity to align and develop a closer relationship with your local Honda/Acura Dealer, ensure customer expectations are met, and a high level of customer service is provided.

Aviva Preferred Shops Receive
New Increased Certified Rates

Aviva Canada introduced a new rate structure effective January 4th, 2022, that provides their OEM Certified Aviva Preferred Shops with higher door rates. Aviva has officially released the certified rates and certified luxury rates to their network and are recognizing the Certified Collision Care program OEM Certifications for repair facilities to have access to the higher rates.

This is exciting news for Certified Collision Care providers on the Aviva Preferred network. They are being rewarded for making the investments in tools, equipment and training to be able to provide safe repairs to OEM specifications, and to achieve OEM certification. This means that when a facility repairs a vehicle that belongs to a brand they are certified with, the certified rates will apply. The certified rates apply to facilities who have achieved Ford, FCA, Kia, Hyundai, Genesis, Honda, Acura, Subaru, Toyota, and Nissan certification. Facilities with Lexus and INFINITI certifications qualify for an even higher luxury certified rate on those vehicles.

If your shop is not currently on the Aviva Preferred program, there is a formal application process. Any interested shops can reach out directly to their Aviva representative.

Ford Paint Warranty Repairs to be Performed by Ford Certified Collision Network

Ford Canada announced that all warranty paint repairs are required to be performed at a Ford Certified Collision Network facility if one is located within 80 km of the servicing dealership. This new policy which takes effect on January 1, 2022, supports collision repair facilities that have made the investments in tools, equipment, and training to become Ford Certified by increasing the volume of warranty repairs being directed to their facilities.

Also announced, Ford has enhanced the paint material allowance rate and improved the dealership reimbursement policy for warranty paint repairs that are performed at a collision repair facility that is part of the Ford Certified Collision Network. This change provides financial benefits to Ford Dealers who are referring warranty work to a Ford Certified Collision Network facility.

Ford Dealers will utilize the Certified Collision Care online shop locator at www.autobodylocator.ca to locate the Ford Certified shop within 80km of their location. They can also access the locator from the Ford internal website.

What does this mean to you? If your facility is Ford Certified, we encourage you to reach out to your local Ford dealership to introduce your Ford Certified facility, if you are not already well acquainted. This new policy represents a great opportunity to develop a closer relationship with your local Ford Dealer to complete their paint warranty repairs. It is a win for all involved parties – the consumer, the Ford Certified shop, and the Ford Dealer.

Nissan Canada Consumer Email
Campaign

Nissan Canada contacted over 370,000 Nissan drivers across Canada in October by email to educate them about the Nissan Certified Collision Repair Network. The email contained an entertaining GIF animation, and locator link to let consumers know how to locate a Nissan Certified facility. It also reminded them they have access to Complimentary Collision Towing to the nearest Nissan Certified Collision Centre.

Nissan Canada launched this campaign to support the Nissan Certified Collision Repair Network by raising awareness and directing consumers to the nearest certified facility.

This resulted in a 478 % increase in collision.nissan.ca website traffic, in October, compared to September due to this campaign.

New “Life Happens” Video Released by Nissan North America!

Nissan is committed to developing new, fresh marketing content to help promote the Nissan Certified Collision Repair Network across social and digital platforms. They created the “Life Happens” series, a collection of four videos to increase awareness of the certified network.

In each video, a Nissan vehicle is damaged through various everyday life circumstances—an inadvertent door slam, an ill-timed falling branch, a wayward shopping cart. By visiting a Certified Collision Center, the customer is taken care of, the vehicle is expertly repaired, and the car returns to its central role in the life of its owner.

The, “Life Happens: Shopping Cart Showdown,” video is now live! Watch and share it with your customers and social media followers. Use it to educate them on how you are recognized by their manufacturer and are qualified to repair their vehicle.

SGI acknowledged in a bulletin, that the Safe and Quality Auto Repair Project represents “a significant change for the industry”. The bulletin states that “It’s a big change for repair shops, and it’s a big change for us. As vehicles continue to become more complex, we need to ensure we have an industry capable of repairing them safely”.

The Certified Collision Care program is the largest OEM certification program in Canada. Managing and administering OEM certification programs for Ford, Fiat Chrysler, Kia, Nissan, INFINITI, Toyota, Lexus, Honda and Acura, the program represents over 60% of vehicles on today’s roads.

“This recognition of the Certified Collision Care program by SGI shows the importance of becoming certified”, says Leanne Jefferies, VP Canadian Operations for Assured Performance Certified Collision Care. “We are extremely pleased that collision repair facilities in Saskatchewan will see an immediate financial benefit of achieving our certification through the training and tooling incentive of $15,000 from SGI. When combined with the Certification marketing tools and OEM referrals that our certified shops are provided with, becoming a part of Certified Collision Care is a proven way to bring cars to your door and increase the value of your business”.

Certification is only awarded to shops that have invested in the tools, equipment and technical training required to repair vehicles to OEM specifications, and who successfully complete the Certified Collision Care assessment, pass an onsite inspection and audit and are approved by our OEM partners. Certified Collision Care Providers gain access to a powerful suite of marketing tools including OEM Certified signage, use of OEM logos, listing on multiple online consumer and insurer-facing locators, press releases, OEM marketing initiatives and customer referrals. For more information or to join Certified Collision Care, collision repairers can visit www.certifiedcollisioncare.ca.

The Nissan Certified Collision Repair Network is Expanding

The Nissan Certified Collision Repair Network is Expanding

Nissan Canada is focused on providing Nissan customers with a certified collision repair choice in every market across Canada. To help facilitate this Nissan has relaunched the online sponsorship portal, and is requesting that dealers sponsor qualified collision repair centres in their local market.
Dealers are initially provided with two sponsorship opportunities. Once these two sponsored collision repair centres are certified, dealers can nominate one additional repair centre. Then as each repair centre is certified, one more additional sponsorship opportunity becomes available to the dealer.
If you are interested in becoming part of the Nissan Certified Collision Repair Network, we recommend reaching out to your local Nissan dealer to request sponsorship!

Dealers will login at www.getnissancertified.ca to complete their sponsorships, and you can visit this site for complete details.

Nissan Canada Distributes 1 Million Marketing Pieces
to Support Certified Collision Centres

Nissan Canada has introduced new consumer marketing initiatives to support our Nissan Certified Collision Repair Network. They are sending 1 million consumer-facing marketing pieces to dealers that have partnered with Certified Collision Care Providers for Nissan Certification. The marketing tools will generate awareness among Nissan drivers about the importance of choosing a Nissan Certified Collision Repair Centre in the case of an accident.

The marketing materials will assist customers in locating the nearest Certified Collision Repair Centre in the unfortunate event of a collision, through both the Nissan Roadside Assistance line (1-800-267-5936) and the Certified Collision Care online locator (www.autobodylocator.ca)

Receipt Cards
These cards are meant to accompany customer invoices; this can be used at the dealers’ discretion (new vehicle sale, finance office, or service lane transactions).

Oil Change Cards
These decals are meant to be affixed to customer vehicles after a service lane visit, ideally used by dealer technicians

Roadside Assistance Cards
The smaller portion of these breakable cards should slide on to key chain rings at the time of a new/used vehicle purchase. The business card portion can be placed with insurance and vehicle ownership as a reminder.

Maximizing your OEM Certified Credentials: Do your insurance partners know about your OEM Certifications? Many Canadian insurers are now adding OEM Certifications to their shop profiles.

As more consumers are educated about OEM Certified collision repair choices, it is important to ensure that your insurance partners have this information.  It is up to you to promote your OEM Certified credentials, and ask your insurance partners to update your business profile, so their front-line claims staff has the information when it’s needed.  We suggest you send them the press release announcing your OEM Certifications!

When both the insurance company and the vehicle manufacturer recommend the same qualified OEM Certified collision repair facilities to their shared customer (the consumer), it greatly reduces customer stress and enhances the customer repair experience, in addition to ensuring that the collision repair facility has the tools, equipment, training, and facility to safely repair owner vehicles back to OEM specifications.

Take action, and contact your insurance partners today!

Free OEM Collision Repair Resources: Did you know that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Ford Motor Company both provide free OEM Repair Information to the collision repair industry?  Links are provided below to access these resources:

Success Story: Birchwood Collision Centres

The Birchwood Automotive Group opened in 1963 and has rapidly expanded operations, with two locations that are both Certified Collision Care Providers – Birchwood Collision Centre at Pointe West and Birchwood Collision Centre on Regent.  They have made a significant investment in tools, equipment, training, and technology and have made OEM Certification an important part of their business.

Birchwood Collision Centres proudly display their OEM Certification signs in the front lobby and they educate their customers about why an OEM Certified collision repair facility is their best choice for a safe repair.  By promoting their OEM Certifications, they have seen a continued increase in business.

Art Crawford, Director of Birchwood Collision, is a strong believer in the Certified Collision Care program, and was one of the first repairers to join the program when it launched in Canada in early 2016.  In addition to OEM Certification with Ford, FCA and Nissan through Certified Collision Care, his facilities also hold OEM Certifications with BMW/MINI, Jaguar Land Rover, Toyota/Lexus, Volvo, and Pro-First Honda Acura.

Art shared his perspective on how OEM Certification has helped to grow their business and attract and retain new customers.  “We are proud to be OEM certified and we make a point of educating customers about our certifications.  It proves to our valued customers that we are equipped to repair vehicles properly, to manufacturer standards.  This helps us to differentiate ourselves from the competition and increase customer retention.  And because of our focus on providing a positive customer experience, we see improved loyalty from customers.  Our OEM Certifications support the emotional connection that customers enjoy when completing their repairs with our Dealership Network – Birchwood Automotive Group.”

Arthur also believes that OEM Certification has helped their facilities increase their efficiency and throughput.  “We have seen a reduction in supplements and in return cycle time by completing a repair correctly the first time, and following OEM repair procedures.  Our commitment to operational excellence is shared by our team of over 100, which is demonstrated in our growth”, explains Arthur.

Congratulations to Birchwood Collision Centres on maximizing the impact of their OEM Certifications!  We are proud to have their facilities as Certified Collision Care Providers!

Sharing Best Practices
Several Canadian Certified Collision Care Providers attended the recent Assured Performance Network Conference in Phoenix.  Thanks for participating!
During the conference repairers had an opportunity to share their best ideas to use OEM Certifications to grow their business.  Here are five great ideas:
  1. Partner with your local dealer:  Host Car Clinics for new vehicle owners – provide a meal, refreshments and presentations about vehicle features, OEM Service and OEM Certified Collision Repair.
  2. Promote to Insurance Brokers: Share point-of-sale materials with insurance brokers so they can educate their customers about OEM Certified collision repair choices.
  3. Videos:  Post videos on your website explaining why OEM Certifications are so important for safe repairs.
  4. Chamber of Commerce: Talk about your OEM Certifications at Chamber events, meetings and networking breakfasts, to educate your local community about your OEM Certified credentials.
  5. Show off OEM Certified logos:  When you sponsor a local sports team, add your OEM Certified logos to the uniforms.

SUCCESS SPOTLIGHT: MAXIMIZING THE BENEFITS OF OEM CERTIFICATION

Marketing OEM Certification credentials is having a positive impact on sales at Garland Autobody. Garland Autobody in St. John’s, Nfld., was the first shop to achieve Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ford OEM Certification, and Certified Collision Care Provider credentials in the province. When the program was introduced to Canada, Garland Autobody owner, Derrick Ryan, was an early adopter. Being in the top five percent of repairers in Canada, and having already made the investments needed; he quickly achieved OEM Certification.  “I never thought the opportunity to be certified by a vehicle manufacturer would be made available while I was still in the industry.  I jumped at the chance to join Certified Collision Care. OEM Certification moves our credibility and standards up a notch; this is something our customers deserve.” he adds.

Derrick is utilizing his OEM credentials in all his marketing efforts, and to build relationships with his local dealers.  He displays the credentials on his business website, on the back of business cards, and with radio commercials on the local station.  “If you ask if there is a value to certification, yes – there is the opportunity for new revenue”, say Derrick.  “But I see it like the start of a relationship.  It takes time to develop, to create trust, and build for the future.  Provided you put in the effort, business starts to roll in.”  Congratulation to Derrick Ryan and team!

Ford Canada joins Fiat Chrysler Automobiles on the Certified Collision Care Program

Ford Motor Company of Canada and FCA are now both partners with Certified Collision Care to manage their OEM Certification programs.  Collision Repairers that meet the aluminum-specific Ford requirements can now add OEM Certification by Ford to their business.  Certified shops will receive signage, distinction on the Autobody locator and the ability to use special FCA and Ford badges on their marketing material and website.  Our OEM brochures and certification requirements can be downloaded on our website at this link: http://certifiedcollisioncare.ca/canada/affiliates

If you are already FCA Certified, and would like to add the Ford OEM Certification to your business please contact one of our Account Managers:

Ford National Body Shop Network – Updated Dust Extraction Equipment Requirements

Ford has updated the dust extraction system requirements for OEM Certification.  In addition to the immersion type wet-mix dust extraction system, there is a new portable pneumatic system that has been approved.  If you are purchasing equipment to meet Ford Certification requirements, contact your Account Manager for additional information.

Marketing Tips

Did you know consumers are 3 times more likely to pick a Certified choice over any other?  This is why becoming an OEM Certified Repair Facility will significantly benefit your collision business – especially when you use your credentials in your marketing and sales efforts.
To maximize the impact:
  1. EDUCATE YOUR STAFF:  Less than 1 in 10 shops qualify as a Certified Collision Care providers.   Celebrate your achievement with your staff!  Ask them for ideas on how to let the community know that your facility is an OEM Certified Collision Care Provider.
  2. CERTIFICATION SIGNAGE:  Hang your Certified Collision Care, Mopar Certified Collision Repair Facility, and Ford National Body Shop Network Certified signs in your high-traffic reception area, and explain the importance of OEM Certification in your sales process.
  3. DISPLAY OEM LOGOS:  Download your approved OEM logo credentials and add to your website and social media sites.  Let consumers know you are Certified to safely repair their car by their auto manufacturer!
  4. PERSONALIZE YOUR MICRO-SITE:  The Certified Collision Care online shop locator is launching.  Make a great first impression with consumers by updating your business hours, contact information and shop photos.  Show off your beautiful facility and friendly staff!
